Imagine you’re on a plane.
The plane lands successfully.
Someone starts applauding for the pilot.
Applauding!? Yes.
Italians are not used to applaud for every worker doing his/her job – in Italy you won’t see any teacher, surgeon or IT guy be applauded.
If you take a flight though, it may happen.
The main reason is: relief.
In Italy, 6 people out of 10 are afraid of flying (as reported by EuroDap, European Association for Panic Attacks).
So, do all Italians applaud at the end of a flight? Nope, many Italians think it’s silly.
Not all Italians applaud at the end of a flight – but the people who applaud are probably Italian!
